What is
wealth?
This is the first question you should ask.
At My Wealth Learning, I believe that
wealth covers not only money but much more besides: I define wealth as abundance
in our lives.
For everyone that means something
different: a poor person who struggles to afford to eat every other day could consider a
hot meal every day to be wealth; a single person might describe meeting their soul
mate to be wealth. We have wealth in our families, in our bank accounts, in the
health of our bodies, in having the time we need to do the things we want; in
the spiritual aspects of our life; in having fun; and in many other facets of
our lives.
On the path to wealth, growing your bank
account may be part of the journey but it's also about finding a balance in
your life where abundance is a normal state of life. For example if you
could work for a company that you hated in a job you despised but
made a MILLION dollars a year…would you? I don't mean a job you dislike but
one you get sick thinking about...one that goes against
everything you believe in. Would you trade your time and values for simple dollars?
Wealth is about finding that point in your
life where you have abundance: an abundance of joy, an abundance of money, an
abundance of time, an abundance of health, an abundance of spiritual
contentment. Most people spend their lives in trade-offs: they may have an abundance of money but trade their time at a job that doesn't inspire them;
some focus only on spending their time on what they want and suffer from a lack
of money sufficient to share with others.
Wealth isn’t just a bank account number:
if it was, lottery winners would be the happiest people in the world, but we
know they aren't. Wealth is an attitude. Wealth is meant
to be shared. When we share our wealth with others we create more -
we do not live in a world with a fixed amount of wealth: wealth can be created
by us by bringing value to others and by giving our time and expertise to
others so they can spend more time on the things that inspire them.
That’s what My
Wealth Learning is all about: I want to provide you with the inspiration and the
information you need to become wealthy.
A major part of your path to wealth is
your mindset - you need to know exactly where you are now and where you want to
be in the future: so sit down, clear your mind, take a few deep breaths and
relax your shoulders. Answer the following questions and rate
yourself from 1-10 with 1 being absolutely horrendous and 10 being perfect. (You
don't have to show your answers to anyone else, so be honest with yourself):

1. Do you have strong relationships with
your friends and family? Having a strong support structure is a major building
block to a wealthy life. Do you have troublesome aspects in your relationships
that you haven't addressed yet? Are there actions you could take to improve
things?
2. Are you healthy? Do you try to eat
healthy foods, exercise regularly and take care of your body and mind? I’m not suggesting you can’t indulge yourself in things you enjoy but make sure it
isn’t to the extent that you threaten your long-term health. Do you
have mechanisms for dealing with the myriad of stresses and challenges that
life throws at you? It doesn't matter how much money you have in the bank if
you aren't able to enjoy it because of ill health or stress.
3. Are you making maximum use
of your time?Do you get the most out of your day? We all have the same amount
of time in the day, but some people maximise their use of it: they seem to
operate in a different zone than the rest of us. Do you feel like you have good
systems in place to have an abundance of time in your life? And money is more
than just a measure of dollars and cents: think about how you earn it - is it a
good trade for your time?

4. Do you have enough money? Money isn’t
necessarily the most important aspect of a wealthy life but not having enough
can be a terrible place to live. Money is only a medium of exchange: in itself it's useless but it
can buy us things that we need such as food and somewhere to live and also
things that we want like a nice car, beautiful jewellery, a scuba-diving holiday or a sky-diving course in Thailand. But we should also use some of our money to help others who
are struggling and to provide for charity, not just look after ourselves. Do
you have enough money not only to do what you want to do when you want to do
it, but also to help others to enjoy a better life too?

5. Do you appreciate the wonder
of the world we live on and the cosmos of which it’s only a tiny part? Whatever
personal bent you may wish to put on it, it’s vital to enjoy the splendour of
the world we inhabit and all the amazing experiences it has to offer. Do
you take the time and effort to reflect and to be grateful for everything
around you?Once you have answered these questions,
you have a good idea of where you are starting. Just remember that each aspect
won’t have the same importance for everyone. It is your personalised pentagon
of true wealth: the sides can be in any ratio you want.
At My Wealth Learning we will be looking at where we want to
go from here: much of what I will be chatting with you about will inevitably involve the financial
part of your life and how to grow your financial wealth but I'm also intent on providing you with the opportunities, information and inspiration to grow
your wealth in all the aspects of your life and those of your family and friends.
